This one chair had almost every possible fault and problem possible from dry rotted nailers to gobs of old hide glue and shattered joints. The following are pictures of the various ills at the bottom is the chair with original padding and horse hair and upholstery by the owner.

I don't think there is a word for this.

Bad joint.

iron fish plate, ugly!

Snapped off with one long screw lose.

counter sunk dry wall screws, UGLY!

shatter though dowels + rot.

In the end, all is as it should be.
The owner reupholstered over the original padding and horse hair which I replaced. Once again this chair is a comfortable place to be.
